What we found, what we did, and how it turned out.
The existing wood deck had rotted joists and no shade structure, leaving the backyard unusable for most of the summer. The clients wanted a low-maintenance deck they could host on year-round.
We rebuilt the substructure on new footings, installed composite decking with hidden fasteners, added a cedar pergola with adjustable louvers, stainless cable railing, and low-voltage step lighting throughout.
